The glass is embossed with Hemingray - 42 and MADE IN THE USA. Glass insulators were first produced in the 1840s to insulate telegraph lines from lightning strikes. This beautiful lamp will light any home décor. The body is made of actual black iron pipe (pipe commonly used for gas fittings). In the beginning and still today, a Black iron pipe is used to carry gas thru out our homes. This 1/2" pipe is cleaned and sealed.
